Biblical understanding about the Firmament

I have been enjoying Psalms and I believe that understanding about the firmament is something every believer needs.

Psa 19:1  For the choir director. A Psalm of David. The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse “firmament” is declaring the work of His hands.

Psa 19:2  Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. Psa 19:3  There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Psa 19:4  Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun, Psa 19:5  Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. Psa 19:6  Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

This is one of the best chapters in Scripture for flat earth. To my understanding, only 2 things were made by God’s hand. The firmament and man. Everything else was spoken into existence. The God takes great pride in the firmament. This thing is huge. I personally believe we have no idea how wide the earth really is. The priests of science or scientism says 8,000 miles but I think it could be 12 to 30 thousand miles wide. How high it is? Who knows.

Watch this on the firmament, very interesting, only 2 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANKne7aWNAs

Anyway, back to Psalms 19:2-6. This is loaded with biblical cosmology information.

People even believers are always asking me why flat earth even matters. Because it’s truth. Without truth, which is the first part of our spiritual armor, which is needed to: Eph 6:11  Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

The firmament: Gen 1:14-18  Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.

So the sun, moon and stars are in the firmament and He called this Heaven. Gen 1:8  God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

In Psalms 19:1-2 The heavens are telling of the glory of God and are laying out the first part of the Gospel. God exists.  Rom 1:20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Psa 19:2  Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.

In Psalms 19:5-6 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The sun is running a course and this circuit is from one end of heaven to the other. The sun circles the entire created heavens. And in the statement, there is nothing hidden from its heat; the “nothing” in Hebrew means “does not exist”. So every created thing feels its heat.

In conclusion, everything created is in or under the firmament and of course God’s throne is setting on top of it.

Psa 104:3  He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind;

Isa 40:22  It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
